DPF special silicon carbide micro powder

The diesel particulate filter (DPF) is made from high-purity silicon carbide micropowder that has been specially processed and purified. It is produced by mixing according to a formula, refining the mud, sedimentation, and then forming and firing.

Silicon carbide is produced by high-temperature smelting of silica and anthracite or petroleum coke in an electric furnace at 1800℃-2400℃ for 50-200 hours.

Silicon carbide has various crystal forms, with the alpha (α) phase, also known as polycrystalline silicon carbide, being primarily used for abrasives and refractory materials.

Due to its unique silicon-carbon structure, silicon carbide has a very stable chemical structure. It is resistant to oxidation, acids, bases, and corrosion, with a hardness second only to diamond (internationally, diamond is rated 10 on the Mohs scale, while silicon carbide has a Mohs hardness of 9.3-9.5). It can be used for abrasives, grinding wheels, sandpaper, polishing, grinding, cutting, silicon carbide structural ceramics, and refractory materials. In the steelmaking process, silicon carbide begins to decompose above 1300°C and can also be used as a deoxidizer to increase carbon and silicon.

Silicon carbide is classified by color into black silicon carbide and green silicon carbide. Black silicon carbide is mainly produced from anthracite and silica (quartz sand) at high temperatures. Green silicon carbide is mainly produced from petroleum coke and silica with a small amount of sodium chloride added, resulting in a dark green color.

Silicon carbide micro powder processing flow.

The silicon carbide raw block is crushed by a jaw crusher and then ground into coarse particles of 5mm-0, which are then fed into a ball mill to be ground and screened into fine particles of 60#-0. After magnetic separation, it undergoes further processing through Raymond mills, air flow mills, etc., to produce silicon carbide particles that reach micro powder sizes of 30um to 5um. It then goes through air classification, screening, and other processes to gradually produce a series of silicon carbide micro powder grades that meet industry standards or customer requirements.

Silicon carbide honeycomb ceramic wall flow particulate filter (DPF).

The silicon carbide honeycomb ceramic wall flow particulate filter (DPF) utilizes the porous gaps between the interlocking blocked honeycomb channels to capture particles in diesel engine exhaust, thereby reducing particulate emissions and minimizing environmental pollution. In recent years, silicon carbide materials, with their excellent high thermal capacity, high thermal conductivity, high hardness, and super strong chemical inertness, have replaced cordierite as a new type of particulate filter material for diesel vehicle exhaust. Customers mainly use raw materials processed through shaping techniques in sizes of 0.5μm, 5μm, 10μm, 15μm, 25μm, 30μm, 41μm, etc., for coarse and fine ratio usage, and we support customized processing according to customer needs.

Black silicon carbide first-grade product smelted using a 35000kVA furnace, and shaped through air flow grinding, air flow, and overflow classification processes to ensure uniformity of the raw materials.

Content ≥99.00%, Fe2O3 ≤0.1%, F.C%: ≤0.1%, Si2O3 ≤0.09%.

PH: 6-7, moisture content: ≤0.1%, natural bulk density >1.5.

Silicon carbide has high crystallinity, good dispersion performance, concentrated and uniform particle size distribution, and good flowability, ensuring that the produced honeycomb ceramics have a large specific surface area and uniform pores.
